In case you missed it, 7 Baltimore police officers were charged with racketeering. If you didn't already think the cops were running a racket in the first place, I recommend you read the above link before continuing this blog post.
I've always said I don't actually have a problem with cops as individuals. I've met a few I liked as people. In fact, I have some friends that are detention officers and they are close to being Libertarians. However, I don't mind saying that I despise the institution. I usually advise people to never call the police. Mainly because there are just too many cases of people calling the police to help their family memebers only to watch their family member get shot. Don't be a cop. Don't be a snitch.
People don't understand that police have a power trip. They are the enforcment wing of the government. Everybody says politicians are evil, but politicians just write the laws... The cops enforce them. When cops go out on the street, they are already in a state of power trip. YOU have to comply. You have no choice. If you don't comply, you could either die or be kidnapped. These cops in Baltimore were just taking it to the next level.
I'm not the type of guy to buy into the lefty narrative of 100% racist cops all the time. It's not an issue of race to me. It's an issue of power. No one should have the ability to wield that power over peaceful people, and the market demand for protection forces isn't being met by police. There are twice as many private secutity officers out there because the police do not serve and protect. If you want evidence of that, just look to the supreme court. They've repeatedly ruled that police have no obligation to protect and serve.
My beef with those who support the police so much is more complicated. I don't see how individuals who nay say the government can somehow disconnect the enforcment wing from what they view as the big baddie. Everything Hitler did was legal in Germany. The police enforced the law. They were just doing their jobs. That's how it will be here. If you think some guilt ridden pajama boy liberal is going to ride in on a tank after some despot Democrat writes a law to take your guns, you're wrong. It's going to be the law enforcement officers. You know why? Because its not their job to care about whethet or not a law is just or unjust. Its their job to enforce any and every tyrannical law that comes down the pipe.
I discourage you and anyone else from becoming the guns of the State. But I encourage everyone to consider the ramifications of glorifying this desolate idea of "He's just following orders".
It didn't work out in the Nuremberg trials. What will happen next time?
